The association sponsors the key product standards for the industry and addresses technical issues bearing on product performance. As a highly–regarded and accredited standards developer, CPA writes, publishes and maintains industry product standards.

California Formaldehyde Regulation (CARB rule)

CPA was the first Third Party Certifier (TPC) in the world to be approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).  Since that date of May 14, 2008, CPA has been certifying manufacturers to the CARB rule. 
 
CPA is now certifying North American manufacturers of particleboard, MDF, and hardwood plywood for CARB.  CPA is also operating an Ultra-Low Emitting (ULEF) and No Added Formaldehyde (NAF) Audit Program for those panel manufacturers seeking a CARB exemption for their ULEF or NAF products.  Any North American panel manufacturer wishing to become certified to the CARB rule should contact Chris Surak, CPA's Director of Certification Programs.
